Technology and communication has come a long way since the 1700's. We now have iPhones, 3-D Printers, Smart Boards, etc.. Some major players in communication and technology would be the printing press, the telegraph and the iPhone.
The printing press is a major player because it changed our culture completely. The printing press made it easy to produce a mass amount of books, magazines, comics, etc., it changed how we printed ink on paper. Before people used to have to stamp each page by hand and that would take forever. With the printing press we were able to produce so much more in such little time. Another major player would be the telegraph. The telegraph changed the way we communicate. The telegraph sent electrical signals through some wires (over a mile long) where on the end the message was scanned on a paper and people could communicate through that, but only if they could afford it. The telegraph was the first electrical message sending machine. The last major player is the IPhone. The IPhone started an era of new technology. The IPhone created a way to talk, text, surf the web, go on social websites, and play games all in one. The IPhone influenced our IPads and IPods. Wherever you go now (almost all the time) you see people with IPhones, IPads, and IPods. These things have had a major role in how our culture is today.
The printing press, the telegraph, and the iPhone have all helped us do things quicker over long distances. The printing press made it easier to produce more in such little time. The telegraph made it easier to communicate over long distances. The iPhone did the same. The iPhone is a way to do everything at once.
All these things have helped us overcome time and distance. The printing press, telegraph, and the iPhone are just a couple of the technologies that have helped us overcome time and distance. Technology now has made it so easy to become lazy. With the iPhone you can talk to your friends without having to go to their house to talk face to face. You can just FaceTime. When the telegraph was first made it was the first way to talk to people without having to see them face to face. The printing press was the first book making machine ever. It started an age of fast pace. The world is now fast pace. Everywhere you go things are fast. Fast food places, fashion, and music are some examples of fast. With fashion and music something could come out and be really popular but then a week later and people are like "oh that's so last week," and then they move on to something else. That's just a little glimpse of how our world is changing so much.
The new technology can be good. As our culture advances we are able to make good out of it. We have advance in medicine, defeating cancer, and tracking down criminals. With technology, doctors/scientists are able to find ways to fight sicknesses and cancer. In the field of justice, police and the FBI are using technology to solve cases. There is also so much more good stuff that has developed and that will develop.
Technology can be used for bad also. You are able to send terrible stuff to anyone. You can post disgusting and hurtful things on social websites and on the internet for everyone to see. You never no who knows who and how some people will find out things. I think social media is a good thing so you can connect with people but I don't think it's ok to allow everything that happens on those websites. For example, on Instagram if you see something inappropriate and you report it nothing happens! So what's the point? I think they just like to be able to threaten people that your account can be deleted if you are not appropriate but that does nothing. I want to design a social website that you can connect with people but if are not appropriate then you WILL be deleted it disgusts me how this world has become. Well, that concludes that.
